the new weigh in day

It has been 5 days now since I started the calorie counting approach. I must say I frickin' love it. And not just because I lost 4 pounds! The freedom I now feel I have is amazing. Yes, I am still counting numbers but it gives me way more range than the diet plan I was previously following. I did have some doubts... I felt like I was eating too much. But my mam did mention that she thought I wasn't eating enough because the diet was too restricting, I rubbished that with a 'surely an eating less approach should work more?' *fingers crossed* its not just a big loss because it is something new. I always lose big the first week...

Current weight: 19 stones 8 pounds (274 lbs)
Previous weight: 19 stones 12 pounds (278lbs)
Highest weight: 21 stones 3 pounds (297 lbs)
Weight loss this week: 4 pounds
Total weight lost: 1 stone 9 pounds (23 lbs)

I feel happier because I am 3 pounds away from being at my lowest on this journey so far. It takes me back to being a stone and a half lighter. And though I have stopped feeling it in my clothes the numbers are moving. Also I have a little mini trip to Ireland planned in August. Five weeks and counting... this is giving me a little goal. I'm aiming to lose 10 pounds by then, a 2lb a week loss. I think this is a realistic target and one that would make that trip a little bit better. I need to just get back into losing consistently, the last couple of weeks have been 1 step forward and 2 steps back. I entered my losses in the side bar last night and for a while I did lose consistently then the exams happened but that is now in the past. 'Cause I did PASS those exams!

I AM BACK ON TRACK.

I like your post about being encouraged about being back on track. In losing my 150 pounds, I found that I had to get back on track a lot of times before I finally did it.

I never counted calories officially, but I know people who have been incredibly successful doing that. Good luck!!

Calorie counting is pretty sweet, huh? Some people hate it, some people love it. I'm a bit of both. The main thing I like about calorie counting is that it puts you in control. It's up to you to make the science work, kind of thing. That's pretty much how I like everything to be :D

I don't exactly count calories myself. I did, realised what I like eating, wrote the calories down for those things, and so I have a basic idea of how many calories I'm eating during the day. If I want to try something new, just work out the calories, write it down, and work it in :)

Damn, this is like a post... sorry for such a long thing on calories.

WOOOOOOOOOT on the loss! That's 'O' for O-sum!

Good luck with the goal, and remember that any progress is good!

Back on track
And kicking ass
No exams relax
Just dishing sass

YOU'RE BACK BABY! Good for you. 4 lbs is awesome! I don't really count calories, but I kind of do points. I just eat good for me foods, and try not to overeat....sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sounds like the calorie count thing is working for you, though. That 3 lbs is already history,....I can just feel it!

Keep motoring onward, girl. You're doing great. It feels wonderful to get back into territory you haven't been in in awhile. Enjoy the fact that you're making some sweat-ass progress.

That is awesome. How encouraging for you to start the counting and lose weight!!

Glad I can give you new ideas on vocabulary. Good words to use on papers for school. Teachers love 'em.

Kick ass loss Simone! Enjoy your mini trip to Ireland! I'm jealous, I wish I could take a mini trip to Ireland...I wish a trip to Ireland could even be considered a mini trip for me lol.

Woohoo for 4 pounds! That is SPECTACULAR!! Rock it girl. I switched to counting calories in April and I was nervous at first too, but it is so awesome. I don't have to worry about anything else in the food but calories. No formulas, just adding and subtracting. It is like feeling free. Keep posting about it so we can see how you continue to feel.

Hooooot!!! Way to go Grasshopper!

I do the same as Fat Lazy Guy. I give myself choices with a known calorie range, so that I could quit doing the math. I know that my daily intake is within a certain range.

I like calorie counting better, too. I actually recently switched to counting categories, however, I had already worked out portions and calories before ... so it's just modified calorie counting really.

I like the freedom of making my own rules and designing choices that work for me.

A diet plan I was once on restricted fruits and veggies. I thought that silly. I let myself have as many as I want and dubbed them *freebies*. They're not, but if I need something extra, its the best category to choose from.

OK, I'll shutup now ...
