*give away* plus post a recipe!

ROLL UP ROLL UP ROLL UP! * GIVE AWAY*

I honestly didn't think I would ever do a give away but I am three posts away from my 200th post! And for me this is a momentous achievement. I am glad to be still blogging (though there were low times) so in honour of this celebration I am planning a little give away.

As you can see from the pic my 'present' is gonna be better than any of your give aways!

jokes ;-)

The only thing is you don't get to know what I am giving away! SURPRISE! lol. So in the spirit of celebrating my 200th post please take part. All you have to do is post your favourite recipe below. (I really need some new recipes) The tastiest sounding one will win. I shall cook it and compare and then the prize will be yours! (even if it turns out crap... but I am a bad cook so it would probs be my fault!)

DIG OUT YOUR RECIPES!

wow! Im having a hard time posting JUST ONE! lol I dont know if you like split pea soup- but it is a recipe that I use to make with my Nan :) Its yummy! and I guess I will post that one because it is not from a book it is definitely from her- I had to make her measure everything as we cooked so I could write it down. :)

Nanny’s Split Pea Soup
-------------------

2 medium yellow onions, diced
4-5 carrots, diced
4-5 celery stalks with leaves, diced
2-3 potatoes, cubed
2 bags split peas
2-3 heaping tablespoons chicken bouillon
Ham/bone or diced ham steak
Pepper to taste

Put all veggies in pot filled with water ¾ full. Add ham, peas, and bouillon. Cook 1 hour. Add potatoes last 15 min of cooking time. Nanny says, “ when carrots are done, soup is done.” ☺

I want an unknown present!!!! But unless ya like veg I got no other wicked recipes lol. Try it anyway!

Veggie Pizza

-2 packages of the regular size pilsbury crescent rolls
-brick of light cream cheese
-8 oz light sour cream
-1/2 pkg ranch dressing mix
-1/2 pkg italian dressing mix

Roll out crescent rolls, leave flat in square shape, bake as per directions but pay close attention as the roll will burn if overcooked while flat.

Mix cream cheese, sour cream, and dressing mixes, spread over cooled crescent roll flat thingies. Chop up whatever veg you like (I just use cauliflower, broccoli, and carrot), keep the pieces very small, sprinkle over the bread and mixture, cut and eat. Sooooo good!!! If you have any questions about the recipe email me lol

Conblogulations?! I stole this recipe from someone, it is so good. You can make smaller patties to be diet friendly :D

SALISBURY STEAK
10 3/4 ounces cream of mushroom soup, condensed
1 1/2 pounds ground beef, lean
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs, or cracker crumbs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 onion, finely chopped
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/3 cup water
Heat oven to 350°F. In medium bowl, combine 1/4 of the soup with remaining ingredients except water; mix well. Shape into 6 patties; arrange in single layer in 13x9-inch or 12x8-inch baking dish. Bake uncovered at 350°F. for 30 minutes. Skim off fat.
In small bowl, combine remaining soup and water; spoon over patties. Return to oven and bake for 10 minutes. If desired, garnish with mushroom slices.
Serving Size: 6

my version of chicken curry

1.5 lbs chicken breast cut into chunks
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 stalks celery, chopped
3 carrots, sliced
3 medium potatoes, cubed
fat free chicken broth
1/2 cup golden raisins
1 lg. granny smith apple
curry powder
ginger
cayenne pepper
black pepper/salt

OK, cut the chicken breast into bite sized chunks, sautee in a pan with the onion, garlic and celery...add tsp of salt, tsp of black pepper. One or two shakes of cayenne and a shake of ginger. I use Jamacain curry powder which is not so spicy, a little sweeter and more mild than the other stuff, so I guess I use about 1/8 of a cup, maybe more to taste but I'll add more at the end if its a little bland.
Add spices to chicken mixture along with the raisins and peeled chopped apple. Cook a bit until its all soft.
Meanwhile boil enough of the chicken broth to cook those carrots and potatoes. Once those are soft, combine chicken mixture with them, broth and all so its sort of like a thick stew. Simmer a while, add more spice if you like.
I serve this over some brown rice, or jasmine rice with a dollop of fat free sour cream.
Just made it last night in fact!

"Great Meal Easy" recipe

You will need:

1 telephone book
1 phone
a bit of money.

to Prep... take one phone book, split in half to page under restaurants. Look for ads that have words delivery or take out available. If you do not have a “phone book” ingredient you may choose to substitute with “directory assistance”.

Now take one phone, dial and place an order for yummy goodness. I suggest Chinese Food.

Food will come when ready, but needs the secret ingredient of money to pay for it. However if you are out of money… one plastic credit card may be substituted.

At Foolsfitness we may cooking quick and easy, with no messy pots and pans either! - Alan

I like that phone book recipe :o)

I'm going to be really simple and tell you how i make my Power Punch smoothies.

2 Bananas
Desired fruit yogert
Skim milk
Ground Linseed/Flaxseed [About 2 TBS]
Blend it all together.

The banana releases seratonin[SP?] so it starts your day off happy. You get your 2 serves of diary for the day.
Ground linseed/flaxseed is a "power food" packed with vitamins, and it gives the smoothie a mild nutty flavour. Also giving you your serve of grains for the day.

This will keep you full for a while and it's great if your in a hurry :o)

Are you ready for like the best recipe ever? It is fried rice, but healthy. Best bud and I make this religiously.

Ingredients:
3 Tablespoons oil
6 eggs
2 cups of broccoli florets (the good part)chopped finely
1 cup shredded carrots chopped
1/2 red bell pepper chopped
1/2 green bell pepper chopped
1 cup frozen peas
4 cups of rice (precooked)
2/3 cup tamari aged soy sauce (low sodium)

Directions:
1. Cook rice and set aside
2. Cook broccoli separately (drizzle with water and olive oil) in sauce pan on medium-low for about 15 minutes
3. Put oil in large pan medium high, scramble and cook eggs
4. Add carrots and cook 3-4 minutes
5. Add rice
6. Add tamari and bell peppers cook for 3 minutes
7. Last add peas and broccoli, stir and cook for 2 minutes.

Okay so this sounds like a lot of work but it is not really and it makes a TON. We love to eat it as leftovers. I cut up chicken and put it on top or serve with eggrolls. I tend to add more veggies at times. It grows fast, use a big pot.

I think a 2/3 cup portion has about 180 calories and lots of protein. If you skip this one I will understand....but you will be sorry! If you do attempt, please tell me.

I am in the process of learning how to cook. So I don't have too many favorite recipes so far, and none of the recipes are actually my recipes! (And I figure you want a meal recipe and not cookie recipes, right?) So here's my fave so far, courtesy of Betty Crocker:

Orange Teriyaki Beef with Noodles
1 lb. beef boneless sirloin, cut into thin strips
1 can (14 oz.) beef broth
1/4 cup teriyaki stir-fry sauce
2 tablespoons orange marmalade
dash of cayenne pepper
1 1/2 cups frozen snap pea pods
1 1/2 cups uncooked fine egg noodles (3 oz.)

Spray 12-inch skillet with cooking spray. Cook beef in skillet over medium-high heat for 2 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until brown. Remove beef from skillet, keep warm.
In same skillet, mix broth, stir-fry sauce, marmalade and cayenne pepper. Heat to boiling. Stir in pea pods and noodles; reduce heat to medium. Cover and cook about 5 minutes, or until noodles are tender.
Stir in beef. Cook uncovered 2 to 3 minutes or until sauce is slightly thickened.

Prep time is 5 minutes, cook time is 15 minutes. Makes 4 servings. Each serving is 260 calories and 5 g. of fat!

okay here goes...
get some tyson white meat breaded chicken patties.
1 packet of brown gravy you make with water.
6 mushrooms
10 spears of asparagus
1 and 1/4 cup beef broth
1 T olive oil
garlic powder
onion powder
salt and pepper

Take the breaded chicken patties...bake them in the oven.
I weigh mine.
260 grams is 480 calories.
Bake them till they are done and crisp about 20=25 minutes.
While baking them...get a small sauce pan...cut your mushrooms into slices and put them into some beef broth
about 1 and 1/4 cup.
let them simmer
then take the beef broth off and add the gravy packet contents while stirring vigourously....this will make mushroom gravy with no fat.
Take one teaspoon of olive oil....coat a pan and sautee the (frozen) asparagus till done.
I like mine a little charred, I also sprinkle garlic and onion powder on my asparagus...it gives it good flavor...
If you have fresh....boil it first.
serve the chicken with the gravy over the top with the side of asparagus.
Salt and pepper to taste.
It feels like the most undiet meal that doesn't take a ton of calories...somewhere around 600 total.
Good luck.

OK ok Im back with another recipe!! hehe

Turkey Pumpkin Chili

1 lb. ground turkey breast
2 cloves minced garlic
1 med. onion
15 oz can pumpkin puree
15 oz can corn
15 oz can black beans
some canned tomatoes, I use maybe half of a 15 oz can
spices

Cook your turkey meat with the chopped onion and garlic with some non-stick spray, a dash of salt/pepper and some chili powder. You can also use half a packet of premade taco seasoning or anything you like here. Once browned, add the can of pumpkin (sounds odd but gives the chili a thick rich consistency!), corn, beans, tomatoes and let simmer a while stirring often. Eat!

I may eat this by itself with some fat free sour cream or over some brown rice, or even rolled in a whole wheat tortilla. Its good stuff, and a batch can feed you for several meals!
