pancakes or lardcakes!

Yes you read right.

I had been craving pancakes ever since Mack Attack posted like a million pictures of them on her blog. So I convinced my gran to come out of retirement and make her out of this world ones. For pancake day....

BIG MISTAKE.
I have never before taken the time to see how they were made. After my second one I went to help her and she cooked them in pure fat. PURE FAT. LARD. I was devestated I could have easily eaten four of five! My dad had 8. He measured his sugar levels when we got home and it was through the roof. Mine was actually bang on. But still....

Got home last night and wii fitted for an hour. And right now me and mamabear and iccle doggy are venturing into the woods for a walk. I have a lot to do to burn those damn lard cakes off....

That is how grannies cook! Mine will cook in oil, much more like float a bit of veggies in vets of oil. LOL!

Doesn't your Gran know you are trying to get healthy? *Frowns for Gran* >:o/
Maybe you could take her recipe and look at 'fixing' it? replace ingredients with low fat/fake sugar/wholemeal ingredients?
A gal's gotta have pancakes!!

Oh no! In Lard?! That's how my grandmother would make green beans. Is nothing sacred?! You should make mine sometimes. They are 40-60 calories per pancake and fill you to the rim!

Oh my! I can imagine your shock at the pure lard that she was cooking in. But look on the bright side- pancake day is only once a year, so you kind of had to go for it!! I know I did!! :-)

I buy the FIBER ONE mix- they require NO LARD! lol :) I also do not know how to make them from scratch anyway. lol :)

I can't make pancakes. I suck at it. I have a recipe for an oven pancake that requires no lard. It's yummy. Reminds me I haven't made one in awhile and now I want one.

Love pancakes but yikes!

I think I will have to try the fiber one mix. Although I wonder if it causes gas like the darn bars do.

Glad you got a walk in with mamabear and iccle(?)
